I am a very blessed man. Sunday night, November 1, 2015 was one of the greatest nights I have experienced. The waves of "Whiskey" are still high and, believe me, I'm riding them!
I have already received a great number of benefits including accolades and awards for co-writing "Whiskey". But last night was different. It wasn't just the SESAC Country Performance Activity Award I received that was so special, it was that my ole buddy Cole Swindell and co-writer secretly crept in and surprised me by presenting me with the award!! I was BLOWN AWAY!!! Cole and I along with our other buddies all went through some really hard times trying to earn success in Nashville, and now to be getting some recognition for our work is humbling and oh so awesome all at the same time. .
I'm glad my dad was there to experienced it with me because he was always there, back in those Nashville days, encouraging me as I endured some of the ugly side of struggling trying to make it in the business; it's a fact that the chances are slim to have success, but I'm thankful God gave me the strength to overcome the struggle and allowed little ole me to be one of the blessed songwriters/singers that became successful.
To all of you who supports me with comments, prayers and words of encouragement, I want you to know that you are very appreciated and, trust me, I thank you all so very much!! I'd also like to thank SESAC for what they have done for me and the way they always support their songwriters. Thanks so much for the award. Maybe we'll get another one, but right now I'm going to appreciate at least getting this one. God Bless You All
I've had some really bad "When it rains it pours days," as we all have. But right now, I'm receiving the great kind of "When it rains it pours," as I just received an email updating me that "Ain't Worth The Whiskey" has officially sold 1,000,000 copies which promotes the tune from "gold" status to "platinum" status!! It's a bunch to take in, but it definitely taste good going down!! I want to thank everyone that contributed and spent the money on Cole Swindell's album and/or "Whiskey!" It means EVERYTHING! Without fans and music lovers there is NO music business!!
